JUNIORS AND SENIORS  - Important Notice

Jostens will be at school Tuesday, Nov. 1, to meet with juniors regarding class rings and with seniors regarding graduation items.  The junior assembly will be held in the auditorium during 1A classes from 8-8:50.  The senior assembly will be in the auditorium from 9-9:50.  Meetings are mandatory!  Please see Ms. Tonelson in room 220 with any questions :)

Gifted Workshops

The Gifted Resource Teacher will offer a gifted parent workshops for the fall and spring semesters.  Our fall workshop will be on  Thurs. Nov. 3 at 6:00-7:00 in the library. We will discuss the book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain. According to Linda Silverman, Ph.D., (2007) about 60% of gifted children are introverted compared with 30% of the general population. Approximately 75% of highly gifted children are introverted.  If your child is an introvert, you will definitely want to pick up a copy of this book and come share your insights  for discussion.  RSVP to Mrs. Roberson, GRT at Lydia.Roberson@VBSchools.com by 11/2.

Summer Residential Governor's School

Nominations are now being accepted for the Summer Residential Governor's School Academic programs of Humanities; Agriculture; Mathematics, Science & Technology; Medicine & Health Science; Mentorships in Marine Science and Engineering. Interested gifted 10th and 11th graders must complete an Intent to Apply form as the first step in the application process. Completed forms must be returned to Mrs. Roberson in 143, the Gifted Resource Teacher, by Nov. 7.  Contact Mrs. Roberson at Lydia.Roberson@vbschools.com for more information.

COX BOOK SALE is coming November 17th, 18th, and 19th!

This favorite community event helps fund many important PTSA programs. Please donate any gently used books, DVDs, or CDs. There are 8 collection sites around town for your convenience! These include the Cox Library, Great Neck Library, Inlet Fitness, Jan's Gym, Tropical Smoothie (near Taylor's Do It), Church of the Holy Family, and front porch drop-off boxes at 1819 Duke of Norfolk Quay and 1533 Shorehaven Court. Please clean out your bookshelves to support this worthy cause!

Office 365 Pro Plus Free For All VBCPS Students

More than 68,000 VBCPS students will have free software thanks to a new program from Microsoft, the software development corporation. VBCPS is taking advantage of this initiative, which will provide every student in our school division access to the Office 365 suite at no charge.
