2. I have some paintings and stuff I want to be exhibited in the magazine, but I don't want to give Wingspan my original. What do I do ?

Good question...  You may scan your art onto a computer and then send the file you scanned to Wingspan. If you do not have access to a scanner at home, please contact the Computer Resource Specialists in room 136 at school, and you will be assisted as soon as possible.

Another option is to come to a Monday staff meeting in room 210 after school. The art editors will be happy to photograph your piece for you.

3. Wingspan sounds cool, but my work just isn't that good....

What?!?! No! No one's art is "too bad" to be shared. It might not be published (there is limited space in each issue), but it definitely warrants attention if you have put your time, effort, emotion, and thought into it. There is no such thing as the "perfect" work. So don't worry about submitting something that wouldn't get you an A in English class. One of the best aspects of Wingspan is that because your peers will be able to read/view/hear and then critique and laud your work, you are enabled to grow quickly as a writer/painter/photographer/musician/human being.

4. Wingspan is something I would like to get more involved with, beyond just submitting work. What am I to do?

We would love to have you at our Wednesday meetings! We review art submissions every first and third Wednesday of the month and literary submissions every second and fourth. New faces are always welcome!

Meetings are held in room 210 every Wednesday after school.

5. Wingspan appears to be a powerful medium for expression for a group of young people with artistic interests. I would like to support it, but I am not a student. How can I help?

So glad you asked! The most direct and easy method is to purchase a copy of the latest edition of Wingspan. Copies are only $5 and all proceeds go towards publishing the following year's magazine.

Also, please consider becoming a patron.

The editorial staff is chosen at the beginning of the year by Ms. Self and the previous year's staff. Positions open based on graduating seniors and availibility. Please review the staff application for more information.
