Procedures
for
Applying to College
-
Request applications by mail or phone or apply via the Internet. The College Handbook and the Internet are good sources for phone numbers and addresses.
-
After receiving your application, make a photocopy to use as a rough draft or download one from the Internet.
-
It is your responsibility to send the application to the college and to make sure the College Board sends your SAT scores directly to the college. APPLY EARLY! Last minute applications may not be given the same consideration as ones received in a timely manner.
-
When you are ready to submit your application, fill out a “request for transcript” card. Your application and transcript should arrive at the college within two weeks of each other. Attach to the request, $2.00 and the secondary school report from your application, if there is one. Don’t forget to download the secondary school report if applying by Internet. It is usually at the end of the application. The $2.00 charge takes care of all information sent to the college during the school year.
-
Allow 10 working days for us to prepare a transcript to be sent. Any request with a January 2 deadline must be submitted by December 7 in order for it to be sent to the college before winter break.
- RECOMMENDATIONS: Ask teachers who know you well. If a statement or recommendation is required by your counselor, you must submit a “Getting to Know You” packet and meet with your counselor.
Don’t forget to include your activity resume with your college application. You should send it in separately if you apply through the Internet, unless your activities were included in your application questions.
