Auxiliary of Sentara Bayside Hospital Scholarship

~ Two scholarship awards of $2,500
~ Available to seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or above who plan to enter the MEDICAL FIELD
~ Selection is based on scholastic achievement, participation in extra-curricular activities, involvement in and contribution to community service, and financial need
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance
~ Application deadline is April 18, 2008

 

Bayside Elementary PTA Scholarship/ Evelyn Trafton Scholarship

~ Scholarship awards are $500 (PTA) & $200 (Evelyn Trafton)
~ Available to seniors who are in good academic standing, that attended Bayside Elementary school for at least 2 consecutive years, and that are involved in the community
~ Financial need is considered
~ Applications available from Mrs. Silo in guidance
~ Application deadline is April 24, 2008

 

Beach Ford All-American Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is $1,000
~ One senior for Cox will receive this award
~ Available to seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or above that display leadership skills, poise, confidence, and involvement in student and/or community activities
~ If interested, please see Mrs. Silo in guidance with an updated activity resume and a note attached that you are interested in being considered by April 8

 

  Bo Buchanan Memorial Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is $1,000
~ Available to Cox high school senior males that demonstrate leadership and service to school and community while maintaining a commitment to academic excellence
~ The applicant must have demonstrated academic achievement in a rigorous curriculum by attaining a GPA of 3.8 or higher; must have exemplified integrity, sincerity, reliability, and respect for authority in his actions in class, extra-curricular activities, and the community; must have taken part in school and community service indicating a high degree of cooperation and sincere concern for others; and must have served in a leadership position or positions within school demonstrating responsibility, organization, dignity, and concern for others
~ Applications available from Mrs. Silo
~ Applications must be returned to Mrs. Silo in guidance by April 11, 2008

 

Christopher Farms Elementary School PTA (Donald Clement Scholarship) Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is $500
~ Available to seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or above that attended CFES for a minimum of one year
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance or on scholarship central
~ Application deadline is April 29, 2008

 

Cox High School Athletic Booster Club Scholarship

~ Two scholarship awards of $1,000, one will be given to a male, and one will be given to a female
~ Available to seniors whose families are members of the Cox High School Athletic Booster Club and have a GPA of 2.0 or above
~ Selection based upon athletic participation, leadership, contribution to team, and commitment to excellence
~ Applications available from Mrs. Silo in guidance
~ Application deadline is the end of the school day April 30, 2008

 

Stewart Tracey Drye Memorial Scholarship

~ 1 Senior Boy, 1 Senior Girl
~ $750 scholarship
~ Selection based on academic merit, good academic standing, school and community involvement, and strength of character
~ Senior must have participated in indoor track, cross country, or soccer
~ If interested, please see Mrs. Silo in guidance with an updated activity resume and a note attached that you are interested in being considered by April 8

 

Norman L. Fields Memorial Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is $1,000
~ Available to seniors that demonstrate financial need, leadership and character, and that stand in the top 25% of the class
~ Applications available from Miss Wetzel in guidance
~ Application deadline is April 18, 2008

 

George Versprille Scholarship

~ Two scholarship awards of $1,000
~ Available to seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or above and an athletic letter for 2 years of any of the 2 following sports: Cross Country, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance, or Scholarship Central
~ Application deadline is April 21, 2008

 

Great Neck Middle School PTA Scholarships (One for students who will attend a 4 year college/university, one for students who will attend a Community College or Technical School)

~ Scholarship awards are $500
~ Available to seniors who attended Great Neck Middle School for a minimum of one year
~ Applications available from Mrs. Silo in guidance and on Scholarship Central
~ Application deadline is April 25, 2008

 

Harry C. Hecker High School Scholarship

~ Scholarship amount is $1,000
~ Available to seniors that are hearing impaired, with a B average, and who is pursuing education beyond high school (vocational, college, etc.)

~ Application deadline is May 1, 2008

 

J. Theron “Tim” Timmons Scholarship

~ Available to seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or above, two letters of recommendation, and an essay on driving issues affecting teens
~ Financial need must also be demonstrated
~ Applications available at www.aaa.com, go to the public affairs/scholarship information link
~ Applications also available from Mrs. Silo in guidance
~ Application deadline is April 15, 2008

 

Kempsville Meadows Elementary School PTA Scholarship

~ Three scholarship awards of $500 (2 based on merit and 1 on financial need)
~ Available to seniors with a 3.0 GPA or above that attended Kempsville Meadows Elementary School for a minimum of 2 years
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance, the KMES main office, and on scholarship central
~ Application deadline is April 4, 2008

 

Kempsville Men’s Golf Association Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is to be determined
~ Available to seniors that were a member of the GOLF TEAM that displayed the qualities of leadership and character, with a GPA of 2.0 or above
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance and on scholarship central     
~ Application deadline is April 15, 2008

 

Kiwanis Club of Virginia Beach Code of Ethics Award

~ Winners will receive $100 savings bond
~ 3 Females and 3 Males may be nominated from Cox (ALL GRADES:   FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS, AND SENIORS)
~ Available to students that exhibit exceptional character and that demonstrate truthfulness, fairness, integrity, service to and concern for others, friendliness, depth of commitments, and reverence
~ GPA will not be considered
~ If interested, please see Mrs. Silo in guidance with an updated activity resume and a note attached that you are interested in being considered by April 8

 

Kiwanis Club of Virginia Beach Youth Award Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is $1,000
~ Available to seniors that are KEY CLUB MEMBERS
~ Selection is based on grades, extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership ability, and financial need may be a consideration
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance
~ Applications must be returned to Mrs. Silo in guidance by April 29, 2008

 

Lane Malbon Memorial Scholarship

~ 1 Senior selected from Cox
~ $1,500 scholarship
~ Student must be in top 25% of class, must plan to major in Engineering (Civil or Industrial Engineering, related to the construction industry) or Architecture at a Virginia school, and have financial need
~ Applicants must also be active in extracurricular activities and service in school and the community
~ If interested, please see Mrs. Silo in guidance with an updated activity resume citing your career goals and college of choice by April 8

 

Lynnhaven Elementary School - Elinor C. Eklund Memorial PTA Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is $750
~ Available to seniors in good academic standing with plans to continue their education.   Applicants must have attended LES for at least one year.  
~ Winners will be selected based on his/her contribution to their school and community and his/her academic record.  
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance
~ Application deadline is May 15, 2008 to the office at Lynnhaven Elementary school

 

Lynnhaven Elementary School - Joseph Ringo Memorial PTA Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is $400
~ Available to seniors in good academic standing with plans to continue their education.   Applicants must have attended LES for at least one year.  
~ Winners will be selected on the basis of his/her contributions to their school and community and his/her academic record.  
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance
~ Application deadline is May 15, 2008 to the office at Lynnhaven Elementary school

 

Pepsi Scholarship, 4 Year College

~ 1 $1,000 Scholarship to a 4 year college
~ Available to seniors in good academic standing that need financial assistance for a 4 year college

Pepsi Scholarship, 2 Year College

~ 2 $500 Scholarships to 2 year colleges
~ Available to seniors in good academic standing that need financial assistance for a 2 year college

Thomas S. Meade, Jr. M.D. Student Athletic Trainer Scholarship

~ Scholarship amount is $1,000
~ Available to seniors who seek a greater knowledge of sports medicine principles and skills for use in the service of his/her school and community and that took part in a student athletic trainer program
~ Applicants must have attended at least one sports medicine seminar or workshop, and must demonstrate service, scholarship, leadership, and citizenship/moral character ~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance
~ Application deadline is April 15, 2008

 

Norfolk Sports Club Scholarship

~ Scholarship award amount is $2,300
~ Available to senior students that have lettered in at least one sport (cheerleaders qualify), with a C average or better, and that has financial need
~ The student must attend a college or university in Virginia
~ Must include pages 1 and 2 of parents’ 2007 income tax return and high school transcript with application
~ Applications available from Mrs. Silo in guidance or on Scholarship Central
~ Application deadline is April 18, 2008

 

Ocean Lakes Elementary School PTA Scholarship

~ Two scholarship awards of $500 each
~ Available to June graduating seniors who were enrolled at OLES for a minimum of one year, had an overall GPA of 3.0 or better, and that have been accepted into a college, university, or technical school
~ Selection is based on academic performance, community service, character, an essay, extracurricular activities, and recommendation letters
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance
~ Application deadline is April 25, 2008 at 3:00pm

 

Princess Anne Middle School PTA Scholarship

~ Scholarship award amount is $500
~ Available to seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or above that attended PAMS for at least one year
~ Selection is based on scholarship, participation in school activities, community activities, work experience, and financial need
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance and on scholarship central
~ Application deadline is April 11, 2008

 

Providence Elementary School PTA Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is $1,000
~ Available to seniors that attended Providence Elementary School for at least one year and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
~ Applications available from Mrs. Silo in guidance or on Scholarship Central
~ Application deadline is April 14, 2008

 

Richard J. Schlimgen Memorial Scholarship

~ Scholarship amount is $1,000
~ Available to seniors that have at least one year of attendance at the Virginia Beach High School Leadership Workshop sponsored by the Virginia Beach City Public Schools Student Activities office every summer
~ Applicants must demonstrate leadership, service, scholarship, citizenship/moral character, and creativity
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance
~ Applications are due to Mrs. Silo in guidance by 2:00 on April 11, 2008

 

Strawbridge Elementary School :   Boots and Herman Gallasch Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is $500
~ Available to seniors that attended Strawbridge Elementary School for at least two consecutive years and that have a B average or above
~ Selection based on academic performance and extracurricular participation
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance and on Scholarship Central
~ Application deadline is May 5, 2008

 

Stumpy Lake Men’s Golf Association Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is to be determined
~ Available to seniors that have achieved good academic standing, with a GPA of 2.0 or above
~ Applicants must have been a member of the Golf team
~ Selection based on academic achievement, citizenship, character, and financial need ~ Application deadline is May 30, 2008

 

Virginia Beach City Union of the King’s Daughters and Sons

~ Scholarship award is $1,000
~ Available to seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or above, that demonstrate participation in school and community activities/organizations, and that are interested in a career in a HEALTH-RELATED FIELD
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance
~ Application deadline is April 25, 2008

 

Virginia Beach School Nurses Association Scholarship

~ Scholarship award is $750
~ Available to seniors that will be attending college full time in the Fall of 2008 with an anticipated course of study in PROFESSIONAL NURSING
~ Applications are available from Mrs. Silo in guidance and on Scholarship Central
~ Application deadline is April 30, 2008
